What is "Smile in One Day"?
"Smile in One Day" is a popular term for an implantological procedure with immediate loading. In practice, it means that during a single visit to the clinic, the patient undergoes implant placement surgery, and then — on the same day — receives a fixed prosthetic bridge attached to them. By evening of that day, the patient goes home with new teeth.
The procedure is based on proven All-on-4 and All-on-6 protocols, in which four or six implants respectively serve as the foundation for a complete dental arch — upper, lower, or both simultaneously.

Experience matters.
Dr Paweł Sawicki has performed over 2,000 implantological procedures. As a maxillofacial surgeon, he has the expertise to manage even the most complex cases — including reconstruction using zygomatic and pterygoid implants for patients with advanced bone loss.
What does the day of surgery look like — hour by hour
The entire procedure is planned in advance based on computed tomography (CBCT) and a digital implant placement design. This allows the surgery day to proceed smoothly and predictably — below is an approximate timeline for one day of a patient choosing reconstruction of a single dental arch.
- 8:00 — arrival at the clinic. Assessment of the patient's health, signing of surgical consents, administration of medication.
- 9:00 — tooth extractions and surgical procedure. Effective local anesthesia, extraction of teeth that cannot be preserved, placement of 4 or 6 implants according to the digital plan from CBCT. Duration: 1.5–2.5 hours.
- 11:30 — scans and prosthetic laboratory work. Intraoral 3D scans, design of the temporary bridge in a CAD system, printing of the restoration in the local Prodental laboratory — all without sending models externally.
- 12:30 — break for rest. The patient can rest, have something to eat (soft diet), and recover after the surgical procedure.
- 15:00 — attachment of the temporary bridge. Occlusion adjustment, bridge screwed onto the implants.
- 16:00 — return home with new teeth. The patient leaves the clinic with a complete, functional set of teeth and post-operative care instructions.
The schedule is approximate and we always adapt it to the individual situation — in more difficult cases (e.g. double-arch reconstruction) the day may be longer.
Why in one day?
"Smile in One Day" is not a marketing gimmick but the result of many elements working together: digital planning based on CBCT imaging, precise implant placement, and immediate loading of the implants with a prosthetic bridge.
Based on computed tomography and digital simulation, the procedure is planned with millimeter accuracy before the patient even sits in the chair. We select the number and position of the implants, their angle and length, and also design the final smile. As a result, the procedure itself proceeds quickly, predictably, and with maximum safety.
Immediate loading means that we attach the temporary bridge to the implants right away, on the same day — not after several months, as in classic implantology. This is possible thanks to appropriate implant placement, their angled position, and the correct prosthetic construction that stabilizes the entire restoration during healing.
Benefits of immediate loading
Dressing for healing tissues
The temporary bridge protects post-operative wounds and stabilizes tissues, creating conditions favorable to proper healing.
Shorter adaptation to new teeth
From day one, the patient functions with a complete set of teeth — there is no edentulous stage and no break in social or professional life.
Gum modeling
The temporary bridge shapes the gum profile around the implants, which translates into the aesthetic and natural appearance of the final restoration.
Limiting bone resorption
Immediate loading of the implants inhibits further bone atrophy around the implants — chewing forces are transferred to the implants, not to the gums as in the case of a removable denture.
Removable denture vs. fixed implant-supported teeth
Removable denture
Requires daily removal and cleaning. Rests on the gums, causing discomfort and eating limitations. Over time, bone resorbs and the denture loses fit. Denture adhesive becomes necessary.
Fixed implant-supported teeth
Permanently attached — cannot be removed. Fits snugly against the gum, preventing food debris from accumulating. Function like natural teeth: full chewing force, no dietary restrictions. Hygiene as with natural teeth.
Who can benefit from this method?
The "Smile in One Day" procedure is designed for patients who need complete dental arch reconstruction. This applies to both completely edentulous patients and those whose remaining teeth are candidates for extraction. This includes:
- people who have worn removable dentures for years and are seeking a lasting alternative
- patients with advanced periodontal disease and loose teeth
- people with multiple damaged teeth where individual tooth repair is impractical or impossible
- patients with bone loss — through extragnathic anchoring techniques, the procedure is possible even in extreme anatomical conditions

What happens after surgery?
Immediately after the procedure, patients follow a soft diet. Swelling and minor discomfort may occur during the first few days, controlled by standard pain medication. Most patients return to normal daily activities within 2–3 days.
Over the next 3–6 months, the implants undergo osseointegration — they fuse with the bone. During this period, the patient functions with a temporary bridge. After the healing process is complete, the temporary bridge is replaced with the final restoration — individually designed for aesthetics, function, and durability.
Frequently asked questions
Does this really happen in one day?
Yes — implant placement and attachment of temporary teeth occur during a single visit. The entire process from arriving at the clinic to leaving with new teeth typically takes one business day. The final restoration is delivered after the healing period (3–6 months).
Is every patient a candidate?
Qualification is based on clinical examination and CBCT CT scan analysis. Most patients with complete tooth loss or extensive dental damage can benefit from this method. For significant bone loss, Dr Sawicki uses advanced techniques (zygomatic and pterygoid implants) that expand treatment possibilities even in the most challenging cases.

Do the teeth look natural?
The prosthetic restoration is individually designed — tooth shape, color, and proportions are selected to match the patient's facial features. Modern prosthetic materials ensure a natural appearance and durability for years.
How long does full healing and osseointegration of the implants take?
We attach fixed temporary teeth on the same day — the patient immediately functions normally. Full osseointegration, meaning the permanent fusion of the implants with the bone, takes 3–6 months. After this period, we replace the temporary bridge with the final restoration. During healing, a soft diet applies as well as standard home hygiene (toothbrush, water flosser, dental floss).
How to care for the permanent bridge on implants after treatment is completed?
Daily care is simple: thorough brushing with a soft-bristle toothbrush, using a water flosser under the bridge, and dental floss or super-floss. In the clinic, we recommend professional hygiene every approximately 6 months and regular check-up visits. With proper hygiene, an implant-supported restoration can serve for many years.
I smoke cigarettes, can I have a full-arch reconstruction on implants?
Smoking is not an absolute contraindication, but it increases the risk of complications — impaired healing, peri-implant tissue inflammation (peri-implantitis), and bone loss. We recommend significantly reducing or quitting smoking at least one week before and 4–6 weeks after the procedure. Quitting smoking is worth considering not only for the long-term durability of the reconstruction, but above all for your own health.
How much does "Smile in One Day" cost?
Treatment consists of two stages. Stage 1 — implant surgery with a temporary bridge — starts from PLN 28,000 per arch. Stage 2 — the final bridge — adds from PLN 19,000 (composite on titanium bar) or from PLN 25,000 (zirconia).
