Dental implant in Poland — cost, treatment and longevity

At a glance
  • Implant placement costs PLN 3,300, the healing abutment PLN 300 and the screw-retained crown with abutment PLN 3,000–4,000 — PLN 6,600–7,600 per tooth in total.
  • I use implants from established manufacturers with documented clinical results. The placement price is the same whichever system is chosen — I select it based on the bone.
  • The implant integrates with the bone for about 3 months — longer after a sinus lift or bone reconstruction. You always have a temporary restoration in the meantime.
  • In studies with at least 10 years of follow-up about 95% of single implants remain in function. Check-ups: every 6 months at first, then every 12 months with good oral hygiene.

Updated:

A single implant with a crown costs PLN 6,600–7,600 in total (approx. EUR 1,550–EUR 1,750). Below I break down what this price includes, how the treatment works, what research says about implant longevity and why regular check-ups are a condition of long-term success.

How much does a dental implant cost — 2026 prices

The price of a single implant consists of three elements. I carry out the first two as the surgeon; the crown is made by a prosthodontist at the clinic where you continue treatment.

StageWhat it includesPrice
Implant placementPlacement of the implant under local anaesthesia, post-operative checkPLN 3,300
Healing abutmentShapes the gum around the implant before the crown is madePLN 300
Screw-retained crown (with abutment)Prosthetic abutment and crown made by a prosthodontist — the price depends on the clinic and type of crownPLN 3,000–4,000
TotalOne tooth on an implantPLN 6,600–7,600
approx. EUR 1,550–EUR 1,750

Before the procedure: an implant consultation, after which you receive a written treatment plan with costs broken down by stage. If you do not have a recent CBCT scan, we take one. The consultation costs PLN 200. If you have a recent CBCT scan (DICOM format), you can send it ahead of time.

When the price is higher: when bone or gum is missing at the implant site. Whether an additional procedure is needed can be assessed from the CBCT scan and the clinical examination — I tell you before treatment starts, not during it.

Additional procedureWhenPrice
Augmentation with immediate implant placementFilling the gap around the implant in the socket to prevent bone lossPLN 2,500
Gum graftWhen the gum around the implant is too thin or mobilefrom PLN 1,000
Guided bone regeneration (GBR)Larger bone defect — bone from a tissue bank and a membranefrom PLN 5,000
Sinus liftNot enough bone in the back of the upper jawPLN 4,500 (closed)
PLN 6,000–8,000 (open)

For bone reconstruction I use top-quality materials with proven effectiveness — bone from a human tissue bank and membranes. Whenever possible this avoids harvesting bone from the patient, i.e. an additional surgical site.

Bridge on 2–3 implants — cost

When several neighbouring teeth are missing, you do not need an implant for every tooth — two implants supporting a bridge are often enough. The price is simple to calculate: implant placement and healing abutment for each implant (PLN 3,300 + PLN 300) plus a screw-retained crown for each missing tooth (PLN 3,000–4,000). A bridge replacing three teeth means three crowns.

SituationImplantsTeeth in the bridgeTotal
3 neighbouring teeth missing2 × (PLN 3,300 + PLN 300)3 × PLN 3,000–4,000PLN 16,200–19,200
approx. EUR 3,750–EUR 4,450

I decide on the number and position of implants after the CBCT scan. When all teeth in an arch are missing, a fixed bridge on 4 or 6 implants is the better option — see All-on-4 and All-on-6 cost.

Which implants I use

I use implants from established manufacturers with documented clinical results and a full range of prosthetic components available for many years — so the crown can be made and serviced at any clinic working with that system. I choose the implant according to the bone seen on the CBCT scan, and the placement price is the same whichever system is used. Details are discussed at the consultation.

Treatment step by step

  1. Consultation and CBCT scan. I assess the amount and quality of bone, the position of the nerve and the maxillary sinus, the gum and neighbouring teeth, and plan the implant position in 3D software.
  2. Implant placement. The procedure under local anaesthesia usually takes 30–60 minutes. If conditions allow, I place the implant right after the extraction — immediate implant placement.
  3. Healing (osseointegration). The implant integrates with the bone for about 3 months. This is longer when a sinus lift or bone reconstruction is performed at the same time or beforehand. You can work and eat normally, avoiding loading the treated area.
  4. Temporary restoration. You are never left without a tooth — especially in the front of the mouth you always receive a temporary restoration. With immediate implant placement, which I prefer, often directly on the implant, otherwise in another form.
  5. Healing abutment. Shapes the gum around the implant so that the crown looks natural. It is placed on the day of surgery or after healing.
  6. Screw-retained crown. The prosthodontist takes a scan or impression and then screws the prosthetic abutment with the crown onto the implant — usually within 2–4 weeks.
  7. Check-ups. Every 6 months at first, then every 12 months with good oral hygiene; periodic X-rays.

Gum grafting — why soft tissue matters

An implant needs thick, attached gum around it. It determines whether the patient can clean the implant area effectively and painlessly, and it forms the barrier between the oral cavity and the bone that holds the implant. The implant needs clean conditions — thick gum isolates it from bacteria collecting around the crown, which lowers the risk of bone loss around the implant.

When the gum is too thin or insufficient, I perform a gum graft (from PLN 1,000). It restores the volume of soft tissue and often replaces a more extensive bone regeneration procedure. The result: easier hygiene, a thicker barrier around the implant and better-looking gum at the crown.

Implant longevity — what research says

The dental implant is one of the best-studied solutions in dentistry. Key data from systematic reviews and cohort studies:

StudyFollow-upResult
Hjalmarsson et al., 2016 — 527 single implantsat least 10 years95.0% of implants in function;
89.5% of original crowns
Jung et al., 2008 — systematic review of clinical studies5 years96.8% of implants in function;
94.5% of crowns
Derks et al., 2015 — 11,311 implants, 2,765 patients9 yearsearly loss 1.4% of implants;
late loss 2.0% of implants

How often does an implant fail to integrate?

Rarely. In the Swedish population study by Derks et al., early implant loss — when the implant did not integrate with the bone or was lost shortly after loading — affected 1.4% of implants (4.4% of patients). Such an implant is removed and, after healing, usually within a few weeks or months, placed again.

Can an integrated implant lose its integration over time?

Yes — an implant that has integrated correctly can lose its bond with the bone years later. The cause may be inflammation of the tissues around the implant (peri-implantitis), and it may also be overload, e.g. with tooth grinding. In the same study, late loss over 9 years affected 2.0% of implants (4.2% of patients). This is why hygiene, a balanced bite and regular check-ups are so important.

Two practical conclusions follow. First: an implant that has integrated correctly usually serves for many years. Second: the crown is a wear part — after years it may need repair or replacement, while the implant stays in the bone.

Possible problems and complications

Honest information about risk is part of the treatment plan. In the review by Jung et al., over 5 years:

The most important long-term risk is peri-implantitis — chronic inflammation that destroys the bone around the implant. In the review by Derks and Tomasi, inflammation of the mucosa around implants (mucositis) was found on average in 43% of patients and peri-implantitis in 22%. Mucositis is reversible with good hygiene and treatment in the clinic. Peri-implantitis requires surgical treatment and, if neglected, can lead to implant loss.

These figures do not mean the problem will affect everyone. Patient-related risk factors include smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, a history of gum disease, tooth grinding (bruxism), an unbalanced bite and missed check-ups. Treatment-related factors include CBCT-based planning, implant position, the amount of gum and bone around the implant and the experience of the surgeon — which is why choosing the operator matters as much as choosing the method.

Check-ups after treatment are mandatory

An implant does not get tooth decay, but the gum and bone around it can become diseased. The problem usually develops without pain — the patient does not feel the bone receding until the implant starts to move. That is why check-ups are part of the treatment, not an extra:

At home: a toothbrush recommended by your dentist after hygiene instruction, including with a dental hygienist. A sonic toothbrush is very effective and preferred, but not always necessary — any toothbrush requires the right technique. Add floss or interdental brushes matched to the space around the implant and, in hard-to-reach places, a water flosser.

Implant or a tooth-supported bridge?

A conventional bridge requires grinding down two neighbouring teeth, often healthy ones. An implant replaces only the missing tooth and transfers chewing forces to the bone, which limits bone loss at the gap. When many or all teeth are missing, instead of individual implants I plan a fixed bridge on 4 or 6 implants — All-on-4 and All-on-6.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a dental implant with a crown cost in Poland?

PLN 6,600–7,600 in total: implant placement PLN 3,300, healing abutment PLN 300 and a screw-retained crown with abutment PLN 3,000–4,000. If tissue reconstruction is needed, its cost is added: augmentation with immediate implant placement PLN 2,500, gum graft from PLN 1,000, guided bone regeneration (GBR) from PLN 5,000.

How much does a bridge on 2 implants cost?

Each implant costs PLN 3,300 plus PLN 300 for the healing abutment, and each missing tooth is replaced by a screw-retained crown (PLN 3,000–4,000). When three teeth are missing, a bridge on two implants costs PLN 16,200–19,200 in total.

Does the price depend on the implant brand?

No — implant placement costs PLN 3,300 whichever system is used. I choose the implant according to the amount and quality of bone, not the budget.

How long does implant treatment take?

The implant integrates with the bone (osseointegration) for about 3 months. This period is longer when a sinus lift or bone reconstruction is performed at the same time or beforehand. You have a temporary restoration throughout.

Will I be without a tooth?

No. Especially when a front tooth is missing, you always receive a temporary restoration — with immediate implant placement, which I prefer, often directly on the implant, and otherwise in another form.

Does implant placement hurt?

The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, so you feel no pain during it — only pressure and vibration. Swelling and discomfort may occur for 2–3 days afterwards and are usually controlled with over-the-counter painkillers.

How long does a dental implant last?

In a review of studies with at least 10 years of follow-up, 95% of single implants remained in function. The crown wears faster — after 10 years 89.5% of the original crowns were still in place. Hygiene, bite, smoking and regular check-ups have the greatest impact.

How often do I need check-ups?

Every 6 months at first. Later, with good hygiene and a balanced bite, a specialist implant check once every 12 months is enough. Professional cleaning — as for all teeth — every 6 months.
